My blades are all hand done, one at a  time. Hand drawn, hand cut, and I do all my own heat treat. Most are double tempered, have hard edge softer backs and soft handle so it can be drilled. Most are deep cold cryo treated, which makes steel tougher without sacrificing hardness.  My minimum test is 200 stokes on the brass rod test. This is slicing back and forth on brass, until the edge will no longer cut paper. Most factory knives like buck Gerber etc will test between 30 and 50 strokes. Flex test bends 15 degrees ,usually 20 pound test. I prefer D2 steel, a semi stainless tool steel used for commercial log peeling blades.  Chrome in it makes this very tough, holds an edge better than most steels. I sometimes use 1095 high carbon, which will get sharper but dulls faster, costs less, easier to work, an old long time 100 year old steel some prefer. I work Damascus, but do not create it. I see it is an art form I am not set up for. I often trade my work with top knife makers who create their own custom Damascus steel . I acquire a billet and work and heat treat.  I do buy own hand drawn  acid etch designs taht cut deep into the steel. I am now for interesting ways to treat steel taht ie ear changing. I forget copper and brass not the steel during heat treat. I sometimes lay out scrap Damascus in mosaic form and weld together. Off in directions no one else has been. I create potential story knives, in the shape of animals.   All blades are sharp, hardened, polished to at least 600 grit, and ready to use.  Update 2023. For yers I was happy my blades could cut through a brass brazing rod! After 45 years of working steel I now have a blade that cuts through a nail with no damage to knife. Meaning in a survival situation this blade can cut barb wire, bailing wire, cut steel containers open etc. Impossible with other blades.

6 inches overall with 3.5 inch cutting edge, 1.5 wide. Rockwell 60 with softer back. Nice crisp deep etch of eagle one side and spruce tree- flowers on other side. A little heavy for neck knife but maybe boot or hidden knife. Would work well as small belt knife in sheath.

Custom made sheaths for a knife of mine you purchase. Allow 1-2 days for me to make a sheath that fits most hunter skinner style. No sheaths for chef knives. See 'stands.' You can choose an engraved theme for sheaths, animals is my choice, bear wolf moose usually. Birds are usually eagle, duck songbird. Plant could be blade of grass, pine cone, long stem flower of some kind.

Brass copper forged into steel leave stems acid etched snowflake hammered patterning. Hidden tang style meaning you need a round handle to drill a hole in. Good general use blade, skinning camp,  kitchen.

I'd glue handle material on and sand to outline of the steel. Feels good in the hand no she shape. For an outdoor animal knife.

Blank knife blade hidden tang style. Overall 76 inches bladed = 5 x 1 11/2 inches x 1/16th thick. D2 tool steel semi stainless known for keep an edge due to the chrome in it. Rockwell 60- edge soft back. double tempered deep cold cryo treated. A quality blade should make a #1 knife. Rustic over al look slight wow in blade should not effect it's function but discounted. Acid etched steel copper and brass forged in. Very one of a kind unique hand done.

Blank blade industrial hacksaw HST (high speed tool) steel ( A D2 with carbide) hunter skinner design 2.9 ounces. Overall 7 inches. Blade 3 3/4 , 1/16th thick. Double temper Rockwell 59 hardness. Acid etch one sided is a lynx head other side flying goose and flowers. Copper forged into steel. Animal tracks stamped in. Very one of a kind blade with lots of work done to it. Steel is special from 21 inch industrial hacksaw not sold to the public used during other Alaska pipeline days to cut 8 inch stainless pipe. Custom made for the pipeline in the 1980's not made any more. This knife can cut through barb wire,( I cut a 4inch nail as a test) other steel without chipping (as an emergency survival knife) Handle a little shorter than some knives for a more hidden or out of the way knife. This steel cannot be drilled, so I put handle holes in with a torch. Handle outline a tad rough, needs a final tune. (when handle goes on maybe) Sharp functional could use a better polish on blade if you wish, or leave as is for more functional knife you would get dirty anyhow. Possibly only a diamond will sharpen this. I used a silicone belt sander but hard to do by hand. This is a rare steel to get hold of. Got given to me by former pipeline worker. On Ebay found one used blade, $180. Just for the raw blade, no knife made. I got free so passing savings along.
