Mammoth fossil ivory $50 to $300 a lb
$50.00 - $300.00
Fossil mammoth ivory sold by the pound, for best price. I pick it out. If not satisfied return for refund. Less $ if I do not have to photo, describe, list, keep track of. I have way more material then I can individually list. It can be as much as half the price buying bulk. It requires you trust my choices. Otherwise order the individual items listed elsewhere. Link to my how to videos So choose a price per pound which is a quality of grade. Here is a link to help understand grades. Ivory grades View enclosed pictures to see the differences in what a pound looks like. Read each category if you do not understand. If you already understand press on, stop reading! To help you best I need to know your use. Usually one of these, knife maker, scrimshaw work, lathe pen or bagpipe parts, small carvings. Pendants and inlays, or display. I understand these uses. Example: A $300 a pound for display might be tapered so it stands, but a knife maker will not want any taper in his $300 pound. Scrim folks need hard, light color, but may accept irregular shapes. Lathe people will be hard to please as they need hard too get thickness and may require $300 a pound goods. $50 a pound This is usually grade C. Sometimes softer or cracked or lacks top colors but useful to some. Great if you want to stabilize yourself to turn into #1 grade. In all honesty, few can use this grade. However it is samples for schools, tiny inlays, maybe pendants, ivory sewing needles, but may not take a polish and there may be to much soft, you'd be better off going up a grade if you carve or inlay. Or inquire or give more detail of your needs. If you are stabilizing for knife scales let me know so I give the larger soft. Pendants I might offer 'some' hard with color, just dime to quarter sizes. Keep in mind, if you have to throw away half of what you get it is still cheaper than the next grade up. Oh. If you leave a note, I can offer for $50 a sample of all the grades marked so you can see what the differences are. I can't promise an exact weight, but it will be worth over $50, all usable. It could be used to teach, or show others, or so you could test each grade. Like before investing $1,000 order. $150 a pound. This is middle grade that should suit most needs, maybe not all. Look at the pictures. It should be twice as nice in general as the $50 grade. Most knife makers might choose this with some amount of waste and work needing to be done. Not perfect, no vivid blues, striking alligator patterning, not gem grade, just good. Scrimshaw folks will get nice material, hard enough to scrim, no major cracks or weirdness. I suggest scrim people try this grade first. This may or may not turn on a lathe, as it in general could have some flaws between layers. It could be fixed, but time might be money to you. This grade usually works fine for pendents and art, as $300 a pound is usually larger, sometimes almost same quality as this $150 grade, just this grade has less uses, so price is down. Like top color, but not quite good dimensions for the biggest market knife scales. Nor top carving stuff. Jewelry makers should try this grade first. Again, tell me your needs, even email me pic of your work you do. I should be able to tell you yes or no if this grade works. I'm an artist myself so understand. $300 a pound Is a new category. I eliminated the $75 a pound as to hard to grade for most buyers. As each grade doubles in price the differences should be apparent. So. $300 a pound sounds outrageous? So view the pound of knife scales for example. These are already listed for sale. This weighs a pound, and a mix like this, my pick, is $300. The total retail if you bought these 1-2 at a time is $550. Meaning if I can make scales and not weigh each set, measure, photo, list, keep track of, I can sell bulk for almost half price. This grade is close to gem grade. Fewest cracks, least amount of work needed done. If raw for knife scales, it will be an even thickness or perfect deep blue, best dimensions, the top quality for any project. I have no problem taking these pieces and calling them displays and getting $400 a pound if I list these each piece individually. You save about $100 a pound over going to my individually listed pieces of the same grade. Again if what you get concerns you, pay more and pick out from the pieces listed. Keep in mind if I pick, and you do not like it, return for refund. If what you want is between grades, I can adjust the weight accordingly upon request. Such as, "I need cheap for small projects but not $50 garbage and not really nice $150 stuff." I might for example send 2 pounds of material in between grades at the 1 pound $150 price (so paying $75 a pound). Or you need the best of the best gem grade perfect. I might offer less than a pound for $300, and pick the best pound out of 600 pounds on hand. May have for example some knock your socks off blue for gun grips, 5 x 3 inches as a set of 2. It can be worth... the sky is the limit. No. I am not going to go look first and send pictures. You pay, I go look. Or buy what is listed. I have in the past trudged out to the shop into the dark 50 below into the freezing shop and spent half an hour to hear, "Thanks, just wondering, I don't have any money right now." fossil mammoth ivory chunk for scrim-carve 3.5 ounces
A free standing polished piece of mammoth ivory 3.5 ounces, 3 x 2 ½ x ¾ inches. Polished all sides ready to display carved or art added. #1 grade with good patterning ,solid hard takes nice polish.
Fossil mammoth ivory set large 5.3 ounces
Fossil mammoth ivory set 3 3/4 x 2 x over 1/4 inches. #1 grade for stability. Very sold natural no cracks hard material takes nice polish. Possibly workable for small pistol grips Check your size close. (this set barely squeaks by for 2 inches wide however thick out to the edge.) Looks at pictures. For sure plenty for any knife need, bowie stye, or a sword etc. Or, cut for more than one set. Hard to get larger wide sets like this, cut off a curve it takes a 12 ft tusk or longer. From interior Alaska. This set could be scrimshawed or carved (even for other projects beside guns-knives)
Fossil mammoth ivory set 1.5 ounces
Fossil mammoth ivory set 1 ¾ x ¾ x ¼ inches. Dark surface with good alligator patterning. Natural rough surface. Not a perfect match for color, but for patterning. Price lower as a result. Nice solid no cracks nice flat back . For large folder or small skinner hunter. Possibly good choice for other artists for jewelry due to color match issue.
Fossil mammoth ivory set reduced 2.0 ounces
Sold out
Fossil mammoth ivory set 3 x 1 ¼ x ¼ inches. Nice soft greys potential blues . All natural takes high shine, solid. Not a perfect color match. I’d use it as a set but price reduced due to not perfect.
fossil mammoth ivory set small blue
Fossil mammoth ivory set 1 ¾ x 1 ¼ x ¼ inches. #1 grade nice blue. However an odd shape for most knife scale needs, Rats! End caps guards used with other material or… great for pendants inlays. All natural solid.

Fossil mammoth ivory set huge 8.4 ounces
Fossil mammoth ivory set, 8.4 ounces. 5 ¼ x over 2 x ¼ inches. A very large set could be pistol grips, sword bowie large project or cut into more then one set. Nice colors and slight alligator pattern, but not running deep. So a window could be sanded for scrimshaw or cameo type carving. Slight filler in the back to keep flat and control slight delamination and dips. Unusual to get this kind of flat width off a curved tusk, and means it came off a 12 ft long tusk. From interior Alaska, form material I found myself.
Fossil mammoth tooth slice 8.2 ounces
Fossil mammoth tooth slice, 8.2 ounces. 6 ¼ x 3 x ¼ inches. Very large all natural #1 gem grade and cut. Interesting cut down the length instead of crosscut as is usually done, for a one of a kind look. Stronger being cut with the grain. Flat, even cut. Single piece, but knife scale pattern could be laid out and easily fit this probably 2-3-4 sets. Or use as a display . Slight natural crazing on surface will probably be on end product as natural patterning. Should remain stable. Do not overheat this material when working or it could crack warp. Higher skill levels required on this, however the final product is ‘high end.’ Rare to see this material in this size.
I have video on my website on how to handle this material https://youtu.be/Iu9ira_x3Hc
Fossil mammoth tooth root slice gem grade 3 oz
Fossil mammoth tooth slice 3,0 oz. 6 x 1 x ¼ inches. Gem grade (Is higher then #1 grade) as good as it gets . A slice near the root with extreme color and patterns. The best slice from the best tooth out of 100 teeth. Could be used for cabs for rings- jewelry. Perhaps knife scales, or sections of knife scales. Very hard material, can be worked with steel bandsaw just difficult. Diamond is better. Silicone or carbide sanding belts work. Takes a mirror polish. All natural.
Fossil mammoth tooth large
Fossil mammoth tooth 4.9 pounds. 8 inches long x 3-2 ½ inches wide. A large tooth. Some is missing, but shows good chewing surface, good roots, is solid enough for display. No cracks. Has been stabilized and restored. Being about 50,000 years old , last ice age, 90% of all teeth will need some restoration. Ones that do not will be twice the price. This one could potentially be sliced up for those looking for sliceable material. Worth about $200 a slice, guessing this one could produce 10 slices. You need diamond tools and knowledge. I’m working on a you-tube video showing how to handle teeth, but not done yet. Honestly, I would cut this up myself if this were in worse shape! This one will make a nice display. I cut up the ‘junk’ after stabilizing more. Alaska teeth tend to have best colors. Some ‘north sea’ teeth cost less but were in salt water, and as such need soaking in water, which might crack them worse. Restoration does not work if there is salt present. Eventually the salt breaks them down. Thus, these Alaska teeth are sought after. Not easy to find on the market.
Wire wrap custom raw
Custom wire wrap wolf theme. Fits your material about 2x2 size. Adaptable, see pictures of what is possible. A way to turn your material into a necklace without drilling or altering your material. Not a cheap looking method like a bail glued on. Good for large custom glass beads, small artifacts, sea shells, interesting rocks, fossils of all kinds. One of a kind hand made, not a common item. Brass wire and wolf has been soldered. Flexible wire opens closers wraps twist to tighten on your item. No tools skills, or extra work to do. I have other ideas inquire if interested, mostly if you want ‘a few,’ like wholesale.
