Wholesale art, and Raw material Link to some wholesale raw, and to art easy to wholesale

In general wholesale is keystone, half retail price. Not everything, so inquire. I do not need proof you are in business. If you can walk the walk and talk the talk I shall 'assume.' Much wholesale is based on how much you buy ,but I adjust the deal to suit our situation. I want you to make money, I need to make money. All else is up for discussion. I like to see at least $300 to call it wholesale 'usually' Bigger discounts possible at price breaks of $500, $1,000 and $10,000. Since it gets complicated, inquire. As a one person business you and I can agree on about anything that works. I consider consignment if there is a reason to trust you. Payments usually up front, but 'something down' can work. I offer easy returns refunds as long as it's not coming across as a way to scam me. I'll be fair to you you be fair with me. I also trade so what you got that I might want? I traded for chocolate from Hershey PA. Dry fruit from Cal. Opals from a mine owner in Australia, exotic wood. You may sources for fossils or gem stones . This is how I get some materials I pass on to you. I trade skills. You do scrimshaw? Facet stones? In the advertising business? I keep my overhead down by trading. Just an idea. Or you have a Big shop, in and out, keep it short and simple. No problem.
I'm the source, all is made by me. Most art over $45 retail will have a personal hand written tag as to what it is, signed by me. I have my own item code, 'what it is symbol/item weight in 10ths of an ounce/ date created. ' Symbols 'P' for pendant, 'K' for knife etc. Helps keep track. I prefer pay pal or check. I can use square. Not set up for charge cards on line. Or over phone. Many customers just see me in person at the Tucson show, discounts for cash, best deals are at the show, inventory all laid out to look over and discuss. Flying there, is a business expense. (Please do not have a good time) (laugh) |
Issues...
Exact Items listed on my pages are mostly one of a kind . I already put time into listing, As long as 1/2 an hour. My shop time is $160 an hour. Not going to work out well for me to keystone these exact listed items. However you can get the idea of my kind of work. With many galleries, shops, they tell me they need 'pendants between $50 and $100 retail animals on stones' I select that from existing inventory, or can create it custom. Maybe you have a selling season and order months in advance? If raw, like mammoth knife scale needs, I get an idea what you need, a grade, a size, a color, etc and fill the order from my usual 500 pounds of raw. This is how I solve 'one of a kind' wholesale. Note, if you get any order, and what I sent is not going to work for you, return for refund. I'm easy on refunding since there are some unknowns involved. Often, once I know my customers, and we are on the same page (like trust each other) things can go smoother. Smooth means less time. Less time means a better deal, since less chances and risk taken. So 'no,' it is not the same deal for everyone. I feel good business has no pat formula. Best profits involves more risk. Sure thing? You pay for that. I've been in business over 50 years
My costs Keep in mind I'm in Alaska, maybe the highest economy in the world. Min wage $20 not reliable work for under $30. MY 'secret' is hire no one. However I am in my 70's now. Transportation, internet, electric, anything I 'do' has. high add on value. Anything at all I do cost more then anywhere else in the world. Even talking on the phone. . Upside, is cheap land low taxes, and fewer restrictions. I have lots of room for inventory at low cost. Botton line is lowest price is gong to be most raw. I can also do better deals on #2 with cracks, or needs to be worked. Many customers when getting myrqw material is they want 'the best' (top 10% of my total inventory) sanded and shined and square and 'worked' Ok, but 'the deal' is not as good as, 'right out of the ground.' and 2nds. you make your profits on knowing how to turn raw into something sellable. Another reason to contact me so I know your situation.
Art- I can compete by filling a nitch market of 'hand done' with some assembly line concepts. Like I move 12 knives through the process at the same time. And cast the parts. Next I do a lot of trading, so have hundreds of pounds of material to select from to do unique work from. I have unique ideas no one else is doing. I use a rumor to polish in ways not done by anyone else. You then pay for my creativity and design and less for my labor. All this overcomes my higher costs of production by living in Alaska. I also have access to more rare local matearials, some not offered on the commercial market, like Nowitna agate stones, and Diamond willow wood.
Advertising- I offer hand written cards for art items over $50, stating what this is, maybe a hand written story with my signature. I can offer shops brochures, copies of magazine aricles. My books can help sell the art as a story about the artist. I have You Tube on finding the materials used, working them in the shop and some how to, as well as all around lifestyle adventure footage of life in Alaska. Those getting my raw have these 'how to' on working these materials
