Mammoth fossil ivory scraps $50 to $75 lb
Scraps sold by the weight, one pound. Three grades to choose from. Scrim is light color solid good for scrimshaw or where light ivory pendant size is required. This has been high graded from the general scrap pile so cost more. Second choice is good quality scrap with color for jewelry use. I'm thinking pendants, earrings, but good for inlay, possible knife guards end caps pens etc. This may have sought after blue, but for sure darker, not as good for scrimshaw. First two choices $75 lb. about $1 to $2 each. Third choice is lower grade B scraps. $50 a pound. Some grade B could be necklaces, jewelry but much is soft, maybe long and skinny, or for some reason did not end up in the quality pile. Maybe some got overlooked and a few quality pieces arrive. These make good free samples to give away, or for education, smaller inlays etc. Buying by the weight as scrap is a good way to aquire affordable smaller pieces. On the scrim and jewlery grades, expext 30 to 40 pieces per pound. The $50 a pound are samples, you sort it out, about 50 cents each. If unable to order (this seems a complicated feat for my web site- all the choices!) Email me and I can send a pay pal request! All I know is, I have usually over 100 pounds of ivory with no time to photo and list each pound. Nor time to answer questions all day long. Dilema. The less I have to do the better the price.
