Fossil mammoth ivory chunk 2.5 pounds solid
Ice age fossil mammoth ivory solid chunk 2.5 pounds. 10 x 3 3/4 x 1.5 inches. Nice tam bark but thin. Good for carving or lathe work where white is needed. But could be large gun trips or other carving project. I have 2 pieces lost the same, from a spit tusk along a natural crack. The back looks rough but cracks shallow. More serious is the delamination of layer near the curved surface. It''s minor but makes this lest then perfect. So lower price. My guess is solid no cracks would be 2 x 1 x 10 inches. Hard to find 50,000 year old fossil 'perfect no crack.' Perfect is a lot more money. I think the minor cracks can be dealt with with white super glue etc. Or accept the crack free that can be had, with some scraps left over. Study the pictures.
