mammoth tooth display 9.7 ounces
Ice age Alaska mammoth tooth slice display 9.7 ounces. 3 x 4 x 1 inches. This is a special cut of a lot of teeth I slice and dice. This shows the natural unaltered chewing surface of a mammoth tooth. You get a concept of the size of the animal. The back is highly polished and shows how beautiful they are inside - used for art a lot. The layering of the tooth ,hard and soft layers shows up well. The 'uneven wear' due to the layer hardness differences, helps keep the teeth good for grinding seeds and vegetation. Mammoth crushed and ground their food more then snipping it off or needing cutting teeth. 'Just a slice' cost much less then buying a full tooth that can cost $700. This should make a nice display in stand. I found the tooth on the Kantishna River interior Alaska .This river drains Denali Park, where this mammoth probably lived in the ice age, carbon dated at 50,000 years ago.
