Surviving Wild- book 6
Book 6 by Miles in the 'wild' series. I'm in civilization trying to continue a subsistence lifestyle as much as possible, but running into 'civilized problems.' Partly I am not living 'low profile' enough to suit what is expected of someone who is poor, uneducated, lower class, who needs help, as subsistence seems to be defined as now. I appear to be on a person of interest list. We follow a lifestyle over the decades, and watch changes in laws, customs, freedoms, lifestyles. Views on guns, animal rights, homesteading, change, and it is interesting to see how this effects the lives of remote people, the other side of the fence of those voting and trying to come up with workable ways of accommodating all of us. I still have adventures, as I get older and figuring out how to remain wild and survive!
Back to Wild book 5
Book 5 in the ongoing wild series by Miles. I came out of the wild due to changing laws and having lost my trap line and cabins to a forest fire. I thought I'd have to change and give the past up! Not so easy! I decide I need to get back to what I know understand and love. I may just have to do so in a different way! I still depend on getting a winter moose to eat, garden, have no boss, do not drive, and have wilderness adventures. I spend more time looking for mammoth tusks for example, selling for thousands of dollars and dangerous to get.
Secretly Wild- book 7
Book 7 in the Wild series by Miles. Up until now, all my life I have tried to be as open and honest as possible. Believing morals and ethics is behind 'laws.' As time and civilized views change, I find the truth does not set us free. I am arrested, do jail time and am a felon now. Much has been building up to 'issues' in previous books. Here are some prison stories and how the system works as seen from the inside. It is hard to change who I am, but I can change how I am perceived, and some of my behavior. Said carefully as we may not have freedom of speech to the extent I once believed, nor are we free to live our lives as we choose as long as we do not bother others. I have different kind of adventures, as a free man used to the space of the wilds is put in a cage. Someone not used to being around others put in an overcrowded cell. I do ok, and 'survival' is about adapting, taking things in stride, finding meaning and all that happens. I get assigned to the prison garden, take some classes, stay out of trouble, do my time and record it. I had to change the name of the prison inmates and all the guards in order to be allowed to continue writing.
